They traded hundreds of vibrant\, witty\, and passionate letters that now spring to life on stage. This intimate story paints a portrait of two ordinary – and quite extraordinary – lives. \nThis production will feature a rotating cast of artists. Susan Haefner (Broadway: State Fair\, Thoroughly Modern Millie; Northern Stage: Noises Off\, Mamma Mia!\, Mary Poppins) and Davis Mason (Northern Stage: Noises Off\, Last of the Red Hot Lovers\, Trick or Treat) will perform October 4-14. Northern Stage’s own Producing Artistic Director Carol Dunne (Northern Stage: Songs for a New World\, Lend Me a Tenor\, Cats\, Private Lives) and Thom Miller (Northern Stage: The Hound of the Baskervilles\, Mad Love\, Boeing Boeing) will perform October 17-28. \nAdvisory: Appropriate for all ages\, but ideal for 12 and up.

The show features renditions of all the hits by The Band featured in the film\, such as “The Weight”\, “Up On Cripple Creek”\, and “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down” as well as songs by Bob Dylan\, Neil Young\, Eric Clapton and many more. \nVermont Special Guests include (in alphabetical order): \nCooie DeFrancesco sings with a voice that amazes\, and brings a musicality that lends heart and soul to every selection. This Vermont songbird has gone from zero to a full performance schedule in six short years. Primarily performing solo on vocals and guitar\, Cooie is also a member of Bardela\, and enjoys other collaborations across genres. \nChad Hollister has opened for Bob Dylan\, Paul Simon and Tom Petty and has shared the stage w/ every PHISH member\, Billy Gibbons\, Merl Saunders\, Warren Haynes and Blues Traveller. His music is a voice for the Positive and reminds you that life is truly a gift as is the ability to share it through music. \nPhil Hyjek is lead vocalist\, rhythm and slide guitarist for The Suspects. He also performs as a solo artist covering a mix of folk\, rock\, country and Blues songs that he refers to as “Coffeehouse” and as a member of AmerikanaBlue\, a semi-acoustic trio that\, as the name implies\, plays Americana and Blues. \nBud Johnson really enjoys what he does. He said\, “I love music. I love to play music and to create a vibe that creates enjoyment\, makes people smile and want to dance. I can be by myself and enjoy what I’m doing in a practice but it doesn’t compare to playing in a room full of people that are all grooving and riding the same vibe.” ~ Mountain Times April 2018 \n“Harmonica Bob” MacKenzie is known for his vocals and harmonica. He is the founder of the The Bob MacKenzie Band which plays blues classics\, jump\, swing\, and rhythm & blues– tunes that will get you dancing\, or simply let you enjoy the night\, listening while the band takes you back through decades of great music. \nChristine Malcolm is a mom and singer-writer-musician living in Elmore\, Vermont. Her debut recording- Crickets\, Coyotes and the Big Yellow Moon is a collection of songs about small towns\, big hearts\, broken dreams and the endurance of hope and love. \nRick Redington is both forward thinking and reflective. His lyrics are astute and not overdone\, poetic without sounding forced\, and appealing to the indie crowd as well as the country bumpkin. \nBow Thayer has been singing and writing songs for as long as he can remember. Making music is who he is. He has lived up to his “reputation as a sublimely gifted artist” by pursuing a creative vision that seeks to lead Americana music into the future. Finally gaining national recognition\, American Songwriter says this “onetime Levon Helm compatriot is the best artist to come from New England in recent years.”
