SUMMARY:Battery Park Free Concert Series: Adia Victoria w/ Special Guest Wilder Woods
DESCRIPTION: \nAdia Victoria is establishing a fresh reference point on the musical landscape. From blood-born howls to idiosyncratic phrasing\, she is the big red dot saying\nYou Are Here. The Nashville-based artist travels the lands of rock\, afro punk\, and country\, squarely situated in the continent of the Blues. \nAsk about her artistic goals\, and the songwriter/vocalist will say\, “I want to shine a light on the unseen\, and speak the unspeakable.” Adia Victoria is a truth teller. She admits\, “I don’t necessarily paint myself in a flattering light. This isn’t the pop version of pretty or the strategically posed pretty-ugly. Sometimes I’m just ugly. There’s a brat in some of these songs\, selfish\, naïve\, vengeful\, but there’s also a tender eye that just wants the listener to feel seen and understood.” \nRolling Stone Magazine featured Adia Victoria as one of “10 New Artists You Need to Know.” The Village Voice called her an “eerie\, intriguing songwriter\,” with “bone chilling guitar riffs and lyrics topped with candid scorn. Vogue highlighted the recording artist as one of “5 Beauties Who Answer to Afropunk’s Rebellious Call.”

SUMMARY:Lake Street Dive @ Waterfront Park ((SOLD OUT))
DESCRIPTION:Lake Street Dive & The Wood Brothers \nThursday\, July 25th @ 7:00 pm \nWaterfront Park | Burlington\, VT \n–Get Tickets and Event Info Here- \nMichael Calabrese (drums) – Bridget Kearney (bass) – Rachael Price (vocals) Michael “McDuck” Olson (guitar\, trumpet) – Akie Bermiss (keys) \nWith their singular mix of soul and R&B and wholehearted rock & roll\, Lake Street Dive make music that’s timeless yet immediate\, exuberant yet reflective. In the 15 years since their formation\, the band’s infectious vitality has only magnified in appeal\, as proven with the release of their 2018 album Free Yourself Up. Along with earning lavish acclaim\, the Boston-bred act’s most recent full-length debuted in the top ten on the Billboard 200\, and spent a virtually unprecedented seven-and-a-half months on the non-commercial radio charts. \nTheir most intimate and collaborative work to date\, Free Yourself Up finds Lake Street Dive expanding their sound with more intricate textures\, fuller-bodied arrangements\, and stacks of sublime background harmonies. The album’s title serves as both an exhortation to listeners and a statement of purpose for the band\, its songs unfolding with a joyful swagger even when channeling anxiety over the state of the world. “This album is based in the realities in our time\, which have inevitably become part of everyone’s daily life\,” notes Kearney. “It’s something you think about and obsess over—and write songs about. Free Yourself Up is about empowering yourself\, emboldening yourself\, no matter what’s going wrong.” \nLake Street Dive came to life in 2004\, when the original members were studying at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston; Akie Bermiss joined the band on keys in 2017. Over the coming years\, the band steadily built a following through a series of independent album releases\, countless club tours\, and a few lucky breaks. In 2016 they made their Nonesuch Records debut with Side Pony\, an album deemed “irresistible” by Rolling Stone. Arriving in May 2018\, Free Yourself Up drew praise from outlets like PopMatters—who\, on their Best Pop Albums of 2018 list\, noted that Free Yourself Up “cleverly pulls off the rare hat-trick of not only being the band’s most instantly accessible album but also their best”—while lead single “Good Kisser” held fast in the top 5 at Americana radio for over a month. Most recently\, Lake Street Dive released Freak Yourself Out: a five-song 10-inch EP composed of bonus tracks from the Free Yourself Up sessions. \nKnown for their kinetic live show\, Lake Street Dive are now set to embark on a headlining tour of Europe in April. With plans to record new music later this year\, the band will also hit the road for a run with The Avett Brothers this summer\, including dates at L.A.’s Greek Theatre and Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre. In addition\, Lake Street Dive’s summer touring plans include appearances at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival and the Newport Folk Festival. \n  \nThe Wood Brothers- \nIt’s the freest album we’ve done\, the most independent album we’ve done\, and was the most fun we’ve ever had making a record\,” says Oliver Wood. “And most importantly\, this is the most purely Wood Brothers’ album we’ve ever made.” Indeed\, The Wood Brothers’sixth outing\, ‘One Drop of Truth\,’ dives headfirst into a deep wellspring of sounds\, styles and influences. Whereas their previous outings have often followed a conceptual and sonic through-line\, here the long-standing trio featuring brothers Oliver and Chris Wood along with Jano Rix treat each song as if it were its own short film. The plaintive\, country-folk of the album’s opening track “River Takes The Town” gives way to the The Band-esque Americana soul of “Happiness Jones.” The wistful ballad “Strange As It Seems” floats on a cloud of stream of consciousness\, standing in stark contrastto “Sky High”—a Saturday night barnburner built upon stinging slide guitar funk. “Seasick Emotions” is rife with turmoil\, yet “Sparking Wine” is jaunty and carefree. The end result is undeniably The Wood Brothers’ most dynamic recording to date.

SUMMARY:Michael Vincent Band @ Colburn Park ((Free Show!))
DESCRIPTION:2019 Front Porch Concert Series: \nFREE SHOW \nFeaturing: \nMichael Vincent Band\n \nThursday\, July 25h @ 7:00 pm \nColburn Park | Lebanon\, NH   ( across from 51 North Park Street) \nThe band was born 12 years ago in central New Hampshire. The members\, all students at the same school\, stayed busy as a trio and picked up a local fan base as word spread around New Hampshire. In 2009\, a road trip landed the band in Mississippi where a college education’s worth of blues schooling took place for the next several years. This is when the band began hitting the road hard playing from San Antonio to Key West to Boston\, and everywhere in between. Thousands of miles of road and hungry of honky-tonks serve as the backdrop to what the MVB does: Play The Blues.
