SUMMARY:Laughter on the 23rd Floor @ St. Michael's Playhouse
DESCRIPTION:Laughter on the 23rd Floor: By Neil Simon \nEvenings: 8:00 p.m.  July 31 – August 3\, 6 – 10\, 2019\nMatinees: 2:00 p.m.  August 3 & 10\, 2019 \nSt. Michael’s Playhouse | Colchester\, VT \n-Get Tickets and Event Info Here- \nNeil Simon’s tribute to his early career as a TV writer alongside comedy legends Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks\, Laughter on the 23rd Floor follows the roller-coaster antics in a not-your-average 1950s writers’ room as they frantically attempt to please their larger-than-life boss of a weekly comedy variety show. \nSet backstage at “The Max Prince Show\,” a fictional TV comedy series in Manhattan in the early ’50s\, Laughter on the 23rd Floor is somewhat of a continuation of his trilogy Brighton Beach Memoirs\, Biloxi Blues and Broadway Bound\, which ended with the young narrator beginning his career as a comedy writer at a TV show in New York City. \nNote: Laughter on the 23rd Floor contains some mature language. \nThe lights dimmed on Broadway this year in honor of the passing of legendary playwright Neil Simon. This production is dedicated to Mr. Simon whose name was synonymous with comedy. On Broadway\, he was known for his iconic works such as Brighton Beach Memoirs\, Biloxi Blues\, Broadway Bound\, Barefoot in the Park\, The Odd Couple\, Rumors\, and Laughter on the 23rd Floor. In addition to receiving four Tony Awards and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama\, he was honored with several Writers Guild of America Awards\, an American Comedy Awards Lifetime Achievement honor\, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor and the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’s Monte Cristo Award.

SUMMARY:Nicholas Edward Williams @ Church Street - Burlington ((Free Show!))
DESCRIPTION:Burlington City Arts’ Annual Summer Concert Series 2019 \nBurlington City Arts’ annual summer concert series presented by VSECU kicks off on June 12. All are welcome to enjoy 22 free concerts\, this year on lower Church Street near City Hall. The series takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. from June 12 to August 28. We’ve programmed a line-up that features both our local favorites and some from further afield that may be new to you. It’s an excellent opportunity to listen to new music\, have lunch with a friend or co-worker or enjoy being outside with your community\, supporting live music. \nThis weeks performer: \nNicholas Edward Williams\n \nFriday\, August 2nd @ 12:30 pm \nChurch Street (near City Hall) | Burlington\, VT \nLiving on the road for the better part of the last six years\, nomadic storyteller Nicholas Edward Williams blends American folk songwriting with Piedmont blues and Travis-style fingerpicking\, melodic vocals\, rolling harmonica\, whistling and a stompbox. The variety of his influences is evident in his songs\, from Doc Watson to Mississippi John Hurt\, and from John Prine to Paul Simon. The end product is a sound that feels familiar\, yet new. \nThe 34-year-old amounted a wealth of a career under his debut folk moniker “Whetherman” from 2007 to 2018\, opening for critically acclaimed acts such as Taj Mahal and The Wood Brothers\, as well as releasing eight full-length albums while touring extensively throughout the US and Europe. \nNow exclusively performing under his full name\, a new direction of music has emerged from a love for all things roots: Folk\, Bluegrass\, Country\, and Blues. His debut album “As I Go Ramblin’ Around” is slated to release in June of 2019. \n
