SUMMARY:Kat Wright and Amy Helm @ Old Stage at the Essex Experience
DESCRIPTION:The Point Welcomes: \nKat Wright and Amy Helms \nA Tour de Point Show \nSaturday\, August 13th / Show @ 5:00 pm \nOld Stage at the Essex Experience | Essex\, VT \n-Tickets & Info – \n  \nAMY HELM\n \nSinger-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Amy Helm’s third album\, What the Flood Leaves Behind\, is her most autobiographical yet\, both in content and creation. Out now via Renew Records/BMG\, these 10 songs represent a gathering of ideas and experiences\, friends and collaborators. Yet\, the album also marks a landing — a pause for the traveling musician and mother of two young boys who was seeking clarity in her calling and career. After making multiple albums and performing in far-flung places\, Helm returned home to Woodstock’s Levon Helm Studios just before the pandemic to record What the Flood Leaves Behind and reclaim a sense of self. \n\nKAT WRIGHT \nKat Wright\, Bob Wagner (guitar) and Josh Weinstein (bass) lean into their trio formation\, showcasing their folky / rootsy selves\, all stripped down\, a triangulation of their strengths\, their bareness\, their imperfect humanness\, their voices\, their ferocious tenderness\, their love of songs and singing and story.

SUMMARY:Snail Mail @ Higher Ground
DESCRIPTION:The Point Welcomes: \nSnail Mail \nA Tour de Point Show\n \n  \nSaturday\, August 13   Doors: 8 PM / Show: 8:30 PM \nHigher Ground | South Burlington\, VT \n– Tickets and Event Info – \n  \nOn her 2018 debut album Lush\, seventeen-year-old Lindsey Jordan sang “I’m in full control / I’m not lost / Even when it’s love / Even when it’s not”. Her natural ability to be many things at once resonated with a lot of people. The contradiction of confidence and vulnerability\, power and delicacy\, had the impact of a wrecking ball when put to tape. It was an impressive and unequivocal career-making moment for Jordan. \nOn Valentine\, her sophomore album\, Lindsey solidifies and defines this trajectory in a blaze of glory. In 10 songs\, written over 2019-2020 by Jordan alone\, we are taken on an adrenalizing odyssey of genuine originality in an era in which “indie” music has been reduced to gentle\, homogenous pop composed mostly by ghost writers. Made with careful precision\, Valentine shows an artist who has chosen to take her time. The reference points are broad and psychically stirring\, while the lyrics build masterfully on the foundation set by Jordan’s first record to deliver a deeper understanding of heartbreak.
