She is celebrated for her ability to connect with audiences through both uptempo and introspective songs. In addition to creating and recording \nmusic and performing live on tour\, Kathy is increasingly involved with public broadcasting\, consulting and contributing on screen in Ken Burns’ 2019 documentary for PBS “Country Music”\, and recently replacing founder Larry Groce as the host of the long-running popular NPR show “Mountain Stage\,” which features performances from seasoned legends and emerging stars in genres ranging from folk\, blues\, and country; to indie rock\, synth pop\, world music\, alternative\, and beyond. \nKathy was formally inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry in October 2025.
