Tano Jones, Detroit-born and well-traveled singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer, and leader of The Tano Jones Revelry distills the ups and downs of each day into an intoxicating and inimitable brew of rhythm and melodies. The Tano Jones Revelry consists of seven amazing musicians hailing from mostly Detroit and Nashville. Spinning North represents the debut album by The Tano Jones Revelry. Their latest single “Daisy” is “a song about love and no rules. For many generations, there were norms for what attraction and love look like,” says Jones. “You can look worldwide and see those conventions. I’m thinking of this one particular gal “Daisy” who’s gregarious. She’s a breath of fresh air, and she wants to get the most out of every day. The social construct of who will initiate courting doesn’t matter to her. She has a joy and will make the first move. It’s about seizing the day and being a force of nature.”

This Week’s New Music On The Point
Song: Just A Bird
Artist: Blind Pilot
The Portland, OR area band returns with the release of their first new music since 2016. The new album, In the Shadow of the Holy Mountain releases August 16. Band songwriter, Israel Nebeker, says he was struggling with a lot of fear surrounding expectations of who he was supposed to be. He lost his path with music. He was inspired again after travelling to Scandinavia to reconnect with his family’s roots. He and Blind Pilot co-founder Ryan Dobrowski met with a humanitarian group helping migrants in Mexico City, and thus came a new album!
Song: Rainbow
Artist: Cage The Elephant
The band from Bowling Green, Kentucky who moved to London to be part of the British music scene has released a new track from their album Neon Pill. It’s the band’s sixth studio album; and their first album of new music in five years. The track touches on the band’s difficult experiences during the Pandemic lockdown, and the sensation that there was no end in sight.
Song: feelslikeimfallinginlove
Artist: Coldplay
Teddy Swims brings his thunderous voice over this groovy track “The Door” and it sits well on his latest album I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy. The driving bassline and percussive elements provide a perfect backdrop for his soulful voice to sail over.
Song: Lunch
Artist: Billie Eilish
From Billie’s new album Hit Me Hard and Soft, this song details Billie’s same gender sexual attraction, following her public confirmation that she likes both men and women. Toward the end of the song, Billie and her brother Finneas O’Connell pull out some of their most dancefloor music to date.
Song: Oh No!
Artist: The Decemberists
Frontman Colin Meloy said about the new album, As It Ever Was, So It Will Be Again is about death and agriculture. This is the band’s 9th studio album, which released in June. One of the songs that immediately jumped out to us is the track “Oh No.” They are really a fun band to see in concert with 7 musicians on stage including a horn section, which starts off this track.
Song: Real Good Love
Artist: Pete Yorn
It’s been 23 years since Pete Yorn released his debut LP, musicforthemorningafter, to rave reviews. He’s planning to release his new album later this year. In this new heartfelt ballad, Pete expresses how hard it is to find real good love and paints a lovely story about finding someone special. It has been a productive first half of 2024 for the singer-songwriter, who performed on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “Good Morning America”.
