July 19, 2019 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

Burlington City Arts’ Annual Summer Concert Series 2019

Burlington City Arts’ annual summer concert series presented by VSECU kicks off on June 12. All are welcome to enjoy 22 free concerts, this year on lower Church Street near City Hall. The series takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. from June 12 to August 28. We’ve programmed a line-up that features both our local favorites and some from further afield that may be new to you. It’s an excellent opportunity to listen to new music, have lunch with a friend or co-worker or enjoy being outside with your community, supporting live music.

This weeks performer:

Red Hot Juba

Friday, July 19th @ 12:30 pm

Church Street (near City Hall) | Burlington, VT

Red Hot Juba has become a fixture in the Northern Vermont music scene for more than fifteen years for a reason: The band always delivers an honest performance. The joy and jive of Juba is expressed in their willingness to participate in the musical moment. You will never hear the same set list, song or rendition twice. They are an electrifying quartet (a quintet when the drummer also picks up the horn!) with a sound that draws from myriad styles and makes it their own. They are light in their shuffle, soulful in their blues and red hot in their conviction to pay off their dues. Like wine, cheese, and whiskey, Red Hot Juba keeps getting better and better with age and adds all three in equal measure.
